MUFC QUADRANT DEVELOPMENT

As part of Manchester United’s ongoing programme of expansion at Old Trafford, this £40m project involved completing the second their of terrace seating in the corners between the existing East, West and North stands to provide space for an additional 7,500 spectators. As well as increasing the capacity of the ground to almost 76,000 the development provided hospitality and concourse facilities over five floors below each of the new terrace areas.

To ensure that the proposed development could be built with the minimum of disruption to the running of the existing stadium, a design and construction programme and methodology was developed. This included service diversions and constructing the foundations as part of a separate enabling works contract so that steel erection and construction of the first floor level could be completed within the eight week closed season to isolate the construction work from the public under-croft areas below.
